- Hydrangea-like flowers

- Climbing shrub with self clinging stems

- Magnificent feature for a large wall

A hardy, deciduous, climbing shrub, for a sunny or part shaded position. Schizophragma hydrangeoides is commonly known as the Climbing Hydrangea for its Hydrangea-like, creamy-white, lace cap flowers which are borne in flat topped clusters during June and July. The ovate, toothed, rich green leaves cover the woody stems, creating a fabulous backdrop for the elegant blooms. Schizophragma hydrangeoides is relatively slow growing, but once established it will provide a magnificent wall covering that will give years of pleasure. This climbing shrub will need tying in to the supporting wall during the first few years but thereafter it will attach itself using self-clinging aerial roots. Height: 6m (19'). Spread: 3m (10').
